To Medina Residents:

As a business owner and property owner in the City of Medina for most of my life, I have found it very important to have someone in City Hall who is willing to listen and take appropriate action. This is really the only level of government where we have a real chance to make our voices heard. It is also the most important level of government for you and I as residents because City impacts us daily in so many personal and business areas. That's why having someone like Dennis Hanwell in the Mayor's office is critical to all of us. Dennis is a good listener and will take action when in the best interests of the City and its citizens.

As a business owner in downtown Medina and former Medina City Council President for 11 years; I have had the opportunity to work with Dennis Hanwell for quite some time. We here in the City of Medina could not be more fortunate to have such a qualified leader commit to be Mayor.

My wife Dinah and I purchased Miss Molly’s eleven years ago making a huge leap into the worlds of retail and restaurateur after extensive careers and business involvements in totally different fields outside of Medina. Our drive to rapidly understand what businesses needed to do to survive and thrive in Medina’s Historic District got us quickly involved with many local activities and the community. Over the eleven years, I have had the pleasure to chair and work with numerous different organizations focused on sustaining uptown businesses and to work diligently with many individuals on the revitalization of our historic district and the community as a whole.

Every project, activity or event aimed at changing or improving Medina eventually led to City Hall and usually some involvement with Chief Hanwell. Dennis could have been too busy to meet with me but he made time, he didn’t have to listen to me but he always did, he could have been adverse to change but he welcomed it, he could have adhered to what was politically correct but he was willing to take a risk and he could have let us beat our heads against a brick wall but he always tried to help. These are the attributes of a thoughtful, confident leader that also happens to be an honest, high integrity, dependable individual. Dennis is also a true gentleman. Couple these rare characteristics with broad and intimate experience and understanding of how Medina Government works and you have an individual that we need to be our next Mayor of Medina.

Dennis has expressed his commitment to work with and support businesses of all sizes for the betterment of the City, but he will always keep the needs and desires of the residents as his highest priority.

If I were to create a list of qualities I hope to see in a leader, respect would be very near the top. When I consider the qualities that equip Dennis Hanwell to hold the office of Mayor of Medina, respect again rises to the top.
